Massachusetts to consider allowing out of staters to marry

Posted by patriot on July 13th, 2008

No doubt some will start planning a road trip:

Lawmakers in Massachusetts are resurrecting a once-abandoned bill that would allow out-of-state duos to visit, obtain a Massachusetts “marriage” and then return home and create “havoc” with it, according to a pro-family organization.

“This bill would destabilize the Massachusetts marriage laws,” wrote Brian Camenker in his Mass Resistance alert on the issue. “Currently no out-of-state couple can get ‘married’ in Massachusetts if that marriage would not be legal in their home state. This would overturn that law.”

Massachusetts was the first state to allow same-sex duos to obtain a “marriage” license, several years ago. The action followed orders from state officials that county clerks must start issuing those certificates to duos other than the traditional one-man, one-woman couples. That in turn followed a Massachusetts Supreme Court opinion that said such couples could be recognized as “married.”

$70 million for emotional distress because homosexuality cast as sin:

A homosexual man who has a blog on Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign website is suing two major Christian publishers for violating his constitutional rightsand causing emotional pain, because the Bible versions they publish refer to homosexuality as a sin.

Bradley LaShawn Fowler, 39, of Canton, Mich., is seeking $60 million from Zondervan and another $10 million from Thomas Nelson Publishing in lawsuits filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the Grand Rapids Press reported.

Fowler filed his claim against Grand Rapids-based Zondervan Monday, alleging its Bibles’ references to homosexuality as a sin have made him an outcast from his family and contributed to physical discomfort and periods of “demoralization, chaos and bewilderment,” the paper said.

Canadian government to pastor: Renounce your faith!

Now banned from expressing moral opposition to homosexuality:

A Canadian human rights tribunal ordered a Christian pastor to renounce his faith and never again express moral opposition to homosexuality, according to a new report.

In a decision dated May 30 in the penalty phase of the quasi-judicial proceedings run by the Alberta Human Rights Tribunal, evangelical pastor Stephen Boisson was banned from expressing his biblical perspective of homosexuality and ordered to pay $5,000 for “damages for pain and suffering” as well as apologize to the activist who complained of being hurt.

Buchanan: Post-Christian America

Posted by Charlie Kilo on May 25th, 2008

From Pat Buchanan:

“A Victory for Equality and Justice,” blared the headline above the editorial. “Momentous,” “historic,” “a major victory for civil rights,” “a scrupulously fair ruling based on law, precedents and common sense.”

This was the ecstatic reaction of The New York Times to the California Supreme Court’s declaration that homosexuals have a right to marry and have their unions recognized as marriages.

Now there may be hugging around the newsroom at the Times, where one senior writer said, a few years back, three-fourths of the folks who make up the front page are gay. But this is just another streetlight on America’s darkening path to perdition as a society and republic.

New Mexico penalizes photographers for refusing to work at same sex ceremony

Posted by patriot on April 14th, 2008

Since when can anybody demand another person’s services?

The state of New Mexico has ordered a family owned photography company to pay more than $6,600 for declining a demand to take pictures at a same-sex ceremony, and a lawyer who is working on an appeal says it is an example of how “non-discrimination” or “hate” laws can be weapons in the hands of homosexual activists.
